Georgian Technical University (GTU) is one of the most important and largest technical educational institutions in Georgia. It is located in the capital city of Tbilisi and has been the main center for education and research in the country’s engineering and technology fields for many decades.

GTU was founded in 1922 as the Polytechnic Faculty of Tbilisi State University. In 1928, it became an independent technical institute, and in 1990, it received university status.
